ELIGIBIILITY REQUIREMENTS
A letter to ACCM from the medical school stating its understanding that (i) its request for accreditation is voluntary, (ii) the medical school is committed to complying with the Elements of Accreditation for medical schools, the Protocol for Accreditation of medical schools, and any revisions that may be adopted by the ACCM from time to time, and (iii) that because of the voluntary nature of accreditation, the medical school agrees to abide by the decision of the ACCM and to hold it blameless for any adverse accreditation decision. The medical school further agrees to indemnify the Commission for disclosing – to the public and any agencies – its accreditation decision and its underlying reasons. It is further required that:

The medical school fully discloses all information to the Commission deemed necessary for its evaluation.

The medical school is chartered, licensed, and authorised to award the M.D. degree by the regulatory body that governs educational institutions in the jurisdiction. The medical school must provide copies of all documents to demonstrate its authorisation to operate and to award the M.D.degree.

The medical school is governed by a board of trustees/directors who are neither employed nor maintain ongoing business relationship with the medical school.

The medical school employs a full-time chief executive officer, a full-time chief academic officer, and a full-time staff of professional managers, and secretaries for the administration of the medical school.

The medical school is in operation.

The medical school has a published mission statement.

The medical school possesses the necessary administrative, educational, fiscal and learning resources to fulfil its educational goals.

The medical school sponsors one or more degree programmes.

The medical school has assembled a faculty whose members possess appropriate degrees in areas of their instruction.
